Boy George denied US Visa, concert cancelled
Boy George had been scheduled to show up in New York in August for the Department of Sanitations annual family day. In 2006 he cleaned the streets for five days as part of a court-ordered community service after falsely reporting a break-in to his New York home. He wanted to give a concert for department workers.
The statement by his management also mentioned that Boy George was devastated and that George is astounded at the decision and is having lawyers here in the States look at it in the hope that someone will change their mind.
Boy George, whose real name is George ODowd, is facing trial in November on a charge of falsely imprisoning a man. The statement said, George has not been convicted of anything in London, and there is a presumption in the Western world of innocence until proven guilty.

Oscar De La Hoya - Experts Conclude De La Hoya Pictures Were Faked
Pictures of American boxing champ OSCAR DE LA HOYA wearing an all-in-one fishnet outfit and stiletto heels have been declared by experts to be fakes.
Former stripper Milana Dravnel dropped her $25 million (GBP12.5 million) lawsuit against the super welterweight on Monday (09Jun08) after experts decided the saucy snaps, which appeared online last year (07), were digitally altered.
Dravnel had planned to sue the boxer for slander, claiming he urged her to sign a agreement that she could not prove the pictures were real.
De La Hoya's lawyer Judd Burstein tells the New York Daily News, "Oscar's always claimed the photos were false. We had experts conclude they were doctored. She was facing very large damages and so she agreed to drop the case. The case would have been dismissed anyway."

Sex And The City - Sex And The City Writer Wins First-look Film Deal
Michael Patrick King, the writer/director/producer of Sex and the City, has agreed a 'first-look' deal with DreamWorks studios.
With his feature directorial debut - based on the hit HBO series - having been released around the world this week, DreamWorks were eager to have the chance to snap up the rights for his next project.
And according to Variety, the new contract gives the studio first refusal on his next movie.
DreamWorks Studios co-chair and CEO Stacey Snider said the studio was attracted by the depth of King's writing, as shown through six seasons of Sex and the City and the spin-off film.
"[He] writes for audiences that are hungry for real characters and human stories," she explained.
King, an Emmy winner for his series about the lives and loves of four New York women, told the trade newspaper he is already working on his next film.
"It's a romantic comedy, but a deconstructed version," he said. "I want to write bigger stories about love and what it all means.
"The great thing about having your first movie be Sex and the City is the audience was accustomed to complicated storytelling," King added.
"Stacey and I had a great talk, and I'm going to show her the script and DreamWorks will have first jump at it."
Though disputes over pay caused a four-year gap between the end of Sex and the City's televised run and its big screen debut, King did not rule out the potential for a cinematic sequel.
"I wrote that movie with a beginning, middle and end because I didn't want to leave the audience unfulfilled," he said.
"The actresses are great, and if the gods smile and people are still interested, why not?"

Lou Pearlman - Backstreet Boys Creator Sentenced To 25 Years In Prison
Lou Pearlman, the man who created boy bands N'Sync and the Backstreet Boys, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison today.
The pop mogul was charged with swindling friends, investors and banks out of $300 million (£153 million) by encouraging them to invest in two bogus companies for almost two decades.
Pearlman previously pleaded guilty to the charge in March.
Today Judge G Kendall Sharp said he would reduce the prison sentence by one month for every $1 million (£500,000) Pearlman paid back to his victims.
Prosecutors claim that at least 250 individuals lost a total of $200 million (£102 million) while a further 10 financial institutions lost $100 million (£51 million) between them.
Pearlman said in a statement: "Over the past nine months since my arrest, I've come to realise the harm that's been done. I'm truly sorry and I apologise for what's happened."
In handing down the sentence the judge told Pearlman that because family members, close friends and elderly citizens were victims of his scheme, "the sympathy factor doesn't run high with the court".

Estelle - Estelle Denies Label Make-over Rumours
British rapper/singer ESTELLE has denied rumours record label bosses piled pressure on her to change her appearance because she looks like a "tomboy".
The American Boy hitmaker was reportedly asked by chiefs at John Legend's new label Homeschool Records to fix her teeth and alter her hair.
But the star admits it was her choice to get braces for her teeth, insisting her label is impressed with her image.
She says, "They know me. I came with a look. I came with my style and they were grateful. They were like, 'Thank God we don't got to worry about putting you in a pair of pants or giving you a weave.'
"I think because I got braces everyone said the label said it. I been trying to get braces since 2000 and I finally did it.
"But no, it was just something that I've always wanted to do. If people did their research on me on a real level they'd know that no one tells me what to do, ask John Legend."
